Slender Alfonsino

Like other deep-water beryciform fishes, this species lives over continental slopes and seamounts at depths of roughly two hundred to over a thousand metres, well beyond recreational diving range, so it is known mainly through bottom trawl surveys and commercial fishing rather than direct observation. It forms schools near the seabed and is targeted commercially in several regions, but there is little documented natural history accessible to casual observers. As with other seamount-associated species, any visual record comes from research submersibles, ROVs or fisheries data rather than wild sightings.
