About This Species

Found across virtually every terrestrial habitat on Earth, from dense urban centres to remote wilderness, this highly social primate is most commonly encountered in aggregations around food sources, transit hubs, and areas of shelter, where vocal communication — ranging from rhythmic group chatter to the sharp bark of distress calls — is nearly constant. Look for bipedal locomotion, frequent tool use, and the distinctive glow of handheld electronic devices in low-light conditions as reliable identification cues. Observation is easiest during daylight hours in temperate weather, particularly in outdoor market settings or public green spaces on weekend mornings, when group sizes are large and behaviour is relaxed and unhurried.
