Domestic Goat

Most commonly encountered on farms, smallholdings, rocky hillsides, and semi-arid scrubland, where loose herds browse on shrubs, bark, and coarse vegetation throughout the day, often working their way methodically across slopes and terraces. Listen for sharp bleating calls that carry well across open terrain, and watch for the characteristic sideways chewing motion and erect, mobile ears that swivel toward any disturbance. Observation is straightforward year-round in daylight hours, though activity peaks in the cooler morning and late afternoon periods, and kidding season in late winter to early spring brings heightened social interaction and easier close approach as animals are more settled around shelter areas.
