Ethical Viewing Guidelines

• As a near threatened species with populations under pressure in parts of its native range, keep a respectful distance and avoid pushing a covey into flight, watching instead from field edges or tracks with binoculars.
• Hunting seasons and protections differ between its native range in France and Iberia and areas such as the UK where it has been introduced, so check local rules rather than assuming one country's regulations apply elsewhere.
• Avoid entering fields or scrub where birds are feeding or nesting, since ground nests and chicks are easily disturbed or trampled without being seen.
