Crowned Woodnymph

A forest-edge and understory hummingbird of Central America and northwestern South America, where males show brilliant violet-blue and green iridescence that flashes as they turn in the light. Watch flowering shrubs and vines at low to mid-height, especially near streams or clearings, where they defend favoured blooms with fast chases and chattering calls. Early morning, when flowers are freshly open, offers the best feeding activity.
