About This Species
This small green parakeet, told from similar species by its yellow wing markings, moves in noisy flocks through woodland edges, parks and cultivated areas across central South America, feeding on fruit, seeds and blossoms. Flocks are conspicuous in flight and vocal when perched, particularly around fruiting trees. It can be seen year-round, with larger post-breeding flocks forming outside the nesting season.

- Keep a comfortable distance from feeding or roosting flocks and avoid disturbing nest cavities in dead trees, which this cavity-nesting species depends on.
- Wildlife protections and enforcement vary considerably across its South American range, so treat any specific legal claim with caution and default to minimal-disturbance viewing.
- Watching from below or beside a feeding tree without approaching directly is usually enough for clear views.
