About This Species
Look and listen for large, noisy flocks of this white cockatoo in open woodland, farmland, and urban parks, where it forages on the ground for seeds, roots, and grain and often roosts communally in tall trees at dusk. Its loud, raucous calls in flight and while roosting make flocks easy to detect from a distance well before they are seen clearly. It is present year-round across much of its range, with larger flocks typically forming outside the breeding season.
