White-Crowned Parrot

A parrot of humid lowland and foothill forest from Mexico to Panama, usually encountered in noisy flocks flying fast and direct above the canopy or feeding quietly on fruit and seeds within it. Look for a stocky, mostly green bird with a whitish crown, best picked out in flight by its short tail and rapid wingbeats, or at dawn and dusk as flocks move between roosting and feeding sites. Fruiting canopy trees in intact forest are the most reliable feeding spots.
