About This Species
An adaptable, vocal songbird of gardens, parks and forest edges, it forages on fruit, nectar and insects in shrubs and low trees, often announcing its presence with cheerful, chattering calls. Look for its shaggy crest and white cheek patch as it moves through mixed foliage, most active and easiest to observe in early morning, with fruiting shrubs in autumn and winter drawing reliable numbers.
