About This Species
Feeds mainly on mistletoe berries and other small fruit in forest edges, scrubby clearings, and shade coffee plantations, often moving in pairs or small mixed flocks with other tanagers. Its thin, wiry, whistled calls are a useful cue, since the bird itself is small and easily overlooked among foliage. Fruiting mistletoe clumps in the drier months tend to draw in the most reliable activity.
