Jacky Winter

This small, active flycatcher favors open woodland, scrub, and farmland edges across Australia, often perched low on a fence post or dead branch from which it makes short sallies to catch insects. Listen for its clear, whistled song, frequently delivered before dawn, and watch for its habit of flicking its tail while perched.
