European Robin

One of the easiest garden birds to see in Europe, this small orange-breasted bird is famously unafraid of people and will often perch close by when soil is being turned, watching for disturbed invertebrates. It sings year-round, including on winter days and under streetlights at night, with a thin, wistful, warbling song that carries well in quiet gardens and woodland edges. Autumn and winter are especially good seasons, since territorial singing continues outside the breeding period and birds are easier to spot in bare hedgerows.
