About This Species
Plain Prinia is a small, active warbler-like bird of open grassland, scrub, and wetland margins across South and Southeast Asia, usually seen low in vegetation with its tail cocked upward. It forages steadily for insects among grass stems and low bushes, and is most vocal, with a persistent buzzy song, during the monsoon breeding season. It is a resident species, so it can be found year-round, though breeding-season activity makes it easiest to detect.

- This is a common, adaptable species that tolerates observation at a modest distance without special precautions, though nests are low and easily trampled in tall grass, so watch your footing in breeding habitat.
