Garden Warbler

An unassuming, plain brown-grey warbler of dense scrub, woodland edge and overgrown hedgerow across Europe, more often detected by its long, rich, warbling song than by sight, since it favours thick cover and rarely perches in the open. The song is sustained and musical, lacking the harsher notes of similar species, and is delivered mainly from within cover during late spring and early summer. Listening at dawn along scrubby woodland edges in breeding season is the most productive approach.
