About This Species
A bold, vocal bird of sub-Saharan African savanna and open woodland, it is known for mimicking the alarm calls of other species to scare them off food, a habit that makes it easy to pick out by ear. Look for it perched conspicuously on bare branches, fence posts, or wires. It is present year-round and can be found reliably in open bush and woodland edge throughout its range.
