About This Species
This small finch favours gardens, orchards, vineyards and scrubby woodland edges, often perching high in trees to deliver its fast, jingling, canary-like song. Its yellow-green plumage and stubby bill are best picked out at close range, since it can be easy to overlook among foliage. Spring is the most rewarding season, when males sing persistently from exposed perches to establish territories.
