Ruddy Ground-Dove

This small, reddish-brown ground-dove is common around forest edges, gardens, and open scrubby ground across much of Central and South America, usually seen walking or feeding on bare earth and short grass rather than perched. It is tame in many areas and often seen singly or in pairs near human habitation, feeding on seeds scattered on tracks and clearings. It is present year-round, so there is no strong seasonal window for viewing.
