Asian Brown Flycatcher

A small, plain brown-grey flycatcher that breeds across parts of northern and eastern Asia and migrates through or winters in South and Southeast Asia, typically seen perched upright on a low branch before sallying out to catch flying insects and returning to the same spot. It favours forest edges, parks and wooded gardens on migration, often in mixed flocks with other small insectivorous birds. Its quiet, understated presence means it is usually picked out by its characteristic upright stance and repeated sallying rather than by call.
