Eurasian Magpie

A bold, unmistakable corvid found in farmland, parks, gardens and woodland edges, often seen walking on open ground or perched conspicuously in trees showing its long tail and striking black-and-white plumage with iridescent green-blue sheen. It is highly vocal, with a harsh chattering call, and forms noisy communal roosts outside the breeding season. Any time of year is good for viewing, though early spring nest-building activity in tall trees is a notable behaviour to watch for.
