Search the dense understory and mid-storey of eucalypt forest and woodland, where this small bird actively gleans insects from foliage and bark. It is often detected by its varied, mimicry-rich song well before it comes into view, so listening is often more productive than scanning. It is present year-round in suitable habitat, with activity picking up during the breeding season.
