Streaked Saltator

Found in gardens, forest edges and scrubby clearings across northern South America and the southern Caribbean, favouring areas with fruiting shrubs and open perches. Look for a stocky, olive-grey bird with a heavy bill working through mid-level foliage, often in pairs, and listen for a rich, warbling song delivered from an exposed branch. Most active and vocal in the early morning, and easiest to see where fruiting trees draw it into the open.
