About This Species
A slim, grey songbird of open woodland, forest edge and gardens across South and Southeast Asia, often seen perched conspicuously on a wire or bare branch making short sallies after flying insects. Look for the pale grey body, darker mask through the eye, and long, slightly forked tail, and listen for harsh, scratchy calls. Present year-round in much of its range, with northern populations most visible in winter as they move south.
